YT Industries has developed a 720 Wh battery for its Decoy 29 and Decoy MX eMTBs, allowing current owners of the M, L XL & XXL frames to boost range by around 25% over the stock 540 Wh offering. The new 720 Wh battery is available in the US, UK and EU for $899 USD, £899 and €899, respectively.

The news is relevant to anyone who owns a 2021 YT Decoy 29 or MX, and to anyone interested in the 2023 YT Decoy CORE 4 launching today; there are no fundamental updates to report here, only a couple of spec changes, and some new colors. Still, in their stock configuration, the Decoy 29 and Decoy MX come with the 540 Wh battery, so customers will need to fork out the extra $899 USD over the retail price of $6,999 USD (for the 29″), in order to bring the bike closer to the range capacity of some of its competitors such as the 750Wh battery-boasting 2023 Orbea Wild.

The 2023 YT Decoy CORE 4 29 and MX eBikes announced today are very much the same as those originally released in 2021 (review here), only with longer dropper seat posts across all the sizes (now 200mm for the XL MX), and the addition of a Maxxis Assegai Maxx Grip EXO+ front tire. New colorways for 2023 are Arctic Blue and Matte Black Magic.

Note: To purchase the 720 Wh battery in the UK, customers will need to fill out this parts order form.
